NASHVILLE, Tenn., January 31, 2005 – DBI Beverage Distributors announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Golden Brands Beverage Distributors, the largest beverage distributor in San Francisco. Terms of the asset purchase were not disclosed.
DBI Beverage Distributors is owned by David B. Ingram. In April 2002, Ingram acquired Crown Distributing in Memphis.
“DBI is excited to acquire such a successful business in a great market,” said Ingram, president of DBI Beverage Distributors. “Our goal is to improve upon the great legacy that Golden Brands has built in the San Francisco community.”
DBI will retain all Golden Brands managers and employees. It will also continue using the Golden Brands name in the San Francisco market.
DBI purchased Golden Brands from the Molakides family, which founded the company in the 1930s.
“This company has been a family passion for more than 70 years,” said Ted Molakides. “My brothers and I decided, after careful consideration, that DBI was the best company to assume ownership. We are confident in DBI’s ability to maintain our excellent standards of customer service.”
